I did host Carmen from Spain a couple of days and she was very touristic, so I took two days off from work and we went to Burg Altena, Westfalenpark and Schloß Burg.
This is Burg Altena, one hour from Dortmund by train (Picasa):

Then we went to Westfalenpark Dortmund and went for the tv tower (Picasa):

On the next morning we went to Solingen to visit Schloß Burg. On the way we passed the Schwebebahn in Wuppertal and also had the opportunity to use the ropeway up to the castle 🙂 On the way back we went for the full ride with the Schwebebahn from Wuppertal-Vohwinkel to Wuppertal-Oberbarmen (Picasa):

On her last day in Dortmund I took her to Dortmund-Ems-Kanal for a relaxing hour. We were sitting in the shadow of a tree, with the canal in our back and having a look at Deusen (Picasa):
