So by coincidence my last shave was exactly in beginning of the month. As I did not want to take part in “Movember” again I just decided to let it grow.
Here’s a picture of day 5 on Instagram:

On this very warm November 1st we did another walk through Dortmund and went to Hansemarkt afterwards.

Today I took a walk with two fellow couchsurfers, we’ve visited the Ostfriedhof with its monuments and the city centre and on the way home I took some pictures along Bornstrasse.

There is not much to blog about right now, but here are some assorted pictures.
I got a foster plant and the gift of a dreamcatcher (Picasa):

That spider was too interesting not to take a picture of, I’m proud of having its web in the picture:
Then there was some city exploring on the weekends, the last picture with the cup symbolizes me being home with a nasty cough (Picasa):

This guy seems to love nettles, at least he kept still until I could take this shoot 😉 In German it’s a “Laubfalter”, at least using the very nice web page “Die Schmetterlinge Deutschlands” lets me think so. I found him in Technologiepark, right where I described it to be a nice place to spot them in this post.
So yesterday we did a walking tour as a couchsurfing event in Dortmund. We started by ascending Reinoldikirche tower, went by metro to Rombergpark and took a walk around the main pond. From there the next obvious stop was Phoenix West. Close to Eliasbahn viaduct we met a native guy from Hörde who took us over his favourite “goat path” to some hidden spots. Later we enjoyed Phoenixsee gastronomy and took a look at Phoenixsee while the moon was shining over the construction cranes 😉

On Sunday I promised to give a guided tour to a couchsurfer who was visiting Dortmund. I announced the tour on the day before but in the end it’s only been the two of us, what is there to say it was stress-free that way 🙂
So most of the pictures are similar to the ones I already took but then it’s been April weather in August yesterday so at least the lightning is different. And also, if you look closely at one of the flower pics taken in Phoenix-West, you’ll find an insect I’d categorize as “cabbage white butterfly” 🙂

On Sunday I was on a guided bike tour organized by the Hoesch Museum in Dortmund. It was interested to see how everything was connected in Dortmund, liquid iron has been transported by train from one steel factory to another for example. The highlight of the tour for me was a visit to a “forbidden area”, the area of the steel factory Westfalenhütte in the north of Dortmund where I live.

There was this supermoon – I noticed its brightness, but could not compare the size. It’s hard to take proper pictures without professional equipment like a tripod or remote control. It was nice I could watch it from my bedroom though 🙂 See Youtube here and here for some footage.

I did host Carmen from Spain a couple of days and she was very touristic, so I took two days off from work and we went to Burg Altena, Westfalenpark and Schloß Burg.
This is Burg Altena, one hour from Dortmund by train (Picasa):

Then we went to Westfalenpark Dortmund and went for the tv tower (Picasa):

On the next morning we went to Solingen to visit Schloß Burg. On the way we passed the Schwebebahn in Wuppertal and also had the opportunity to use the ropeway up to the castle 🙂 On the way back we went for the full ride with the Schwebebahn from Wuppertal-Vohwinkel to Wuppertal-Oberbarmen (Picasa):

I spent the weekend of June 22/23 at U Turm, Dortmund, as there has been the last chance to see the exposition “World of Matter” and also on this weekend there was Schau-Festival. There also was “Sommer am U” but as you can see in the picture Dörte took of me there unfortunately was not too much going on outside.
