This guy seems to love nettles, at least he kept still until I could take this shoot 😉 In German it’s a “Laubfalter”, at least using the very nice web page “Die Schmetterlinge Deutschlands” lets me think so. I found him in Technologiepark, right where I described it to be a nice place to spot them in this post.

Aplerbecker Apfelmarkt, Sep 7, 2014
On Sunday I’ve been to Aplerbecker Apfelmarkt with friends. I did not document much but used the opportunity to finally see Haus Rodenberg, there also was a little market set up around it, the mayority of the market has been in Aplerbeck itself though. The turtle in the picture I just discovered later when I downloaded the pictures from the camera 😉

Walking tour Phoenix Dortmund, Sep 6, 2014
So yesterday we did a walking tour as a couchsurfing event in Dortmund. We started by ascending Reinoldikirche tower, went by metro to Rombergpark and took a walk around the main pond. From there the next obvious stop was Phoenix West. Close to Eliasbahn viaduct we met a native guy from Hörde who took us over his favourite “goat path” to some hidden spots. Later we enjoyed Phoenixsee gastronomy and took a look at Phoenixsee while the moon was shining over the construction cranes 😉

After-work sky, Aug 29, 2014
On my way home I decided to walk a bit so I could take these pictures of the sky over Dortmund-Barop 🙂

Guided tour Rombergpark, Phoenix-West, Phoenixsee (viking boat competition), Aug 24, 2014
On Sunday I promised to give a guided tour to a couchsurfer who was visiting Dortmund. I announced the tour on the day before but in the end it’s only been the two of us, what is there to say it was stress-free that way 🙂
So most of the pictures are similar to the ones I already took but then it’s been April weather in August yesterday so at least the lightning is different. And also, if you look closely at one of the flower pics taken in Phoenix-West, you’ll find an insect I’d categorize as “cabbage white butterfly” 🙂

Some flower beds Dortmund, Aug 23, 2014
I was walking through Dortmund to and from the “Sommerfest Union Gewerbehof” when I had to take pictures of some flower beds 🙂 Some have been enhanced by “Google Auto Awesome”.

Bike tour Hoesch Museum, Aug 17, 2014
On Sunday I was on a guided bike tour organized by the Hoesch Museum in Dortmund. It was interested to see how everything was connected in Dortmund, liquid iron has been transported by train from one steel factory to another for example. The highlight of the tour for me was a visit to a “forbidden area”, the area of the steel factory Westfalenhütte in the north of Dortmund where I live.

Lichterfest Dortmund, Aug 16, 2014
On Saturday I’ve been to Micro!Festival and from there with a small group at Lichterfest (festival of lights) in Westfalenpark. For € 10 you got some light installations and a fireworks. Would have been nice in a more romantic setting, but, alas, not this time 😉

Supermoon, Aug 11, 2014
There was this supermoon – I noticed its brightness, but could not compare the size. It’s hard to take proper pictures without professional equipment like a tripod or remote control. It was nice I could watch it from my bedroom though 🙂 See Youtube here and here for some footage.
