So there’s another union action against Deutsche Bahn which started at Thursday Nov 6, 2014, 2am and will end Monday Nov 10, 2014, 4am. Good news is, about one third of Deutsche Bahn trains will still operate according to an emergency schedule which is available on-line. Bad news is that they most probably won’t be able to stick to the schedule so you should not try reaching any important appointments while relying on it. Here are some useful links for this situation:
See http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/ for realtime information (multilingual) – look for red and grey triangles, they might point to information saying the train is cancelled!
The spare schedule for long distance connections is available as PDF (in German)
Today I took a walk with two fellow couchsurfers, we’ve visited the Ostfriedhof with its monuments and the city centre and on the way home I took some pictures along Bornstrasse.
I organized a CS event which I attended alone in the end, but then this gave me the opportunity to take some pictures during the day which has been styled “the last sunny day of the year” by the weather forecast.
This guy seems to love nettles, at least he kept still until I could take this shoot 😉 In German it’s a “Laubfalter”, at least using the very nice web page “Die Schmetterlinge Deutschlands” lets me think so. I found him in Technologiepark, right where I described it to be a nice place to spot them in this post.
On Sunday I’ve been to Aplerbecker Apfelmarkt with friends. I did not document much but used the opportunity to finally see Haus Rodenberg, there also was a little market set up around it, the mayority of the market has been in Aplerbeck itself though. The turtle in the picture I just discovered later when I downloaded the pictures from the camera 😉
So yesterday we did a walking tour as a couchsurfing event in Dortmund. We started by ascending Reinoldikirche tower, went by metro to Rombergpark and took a walk around the main pond. From there the next obvious stop was Phoenix West. Close to Eliasbahn viaduct we met a native guy from Hörde who took us over his favourite “goat path” to some hidden spots. Later we enjoyed Phoenixsee gastronomy and took a look at Phoenixsee while the moon was shining over the construction cranes 😉
